BREAKING NEWS!!!!

Just wanted to let everyone know (and mark it down for posterity) that Amelia's first tooth broke through today (Friday, September 11, 2009). I found it this afternoon after I nursed her. No, she did not bite me, but she was making the funniest face and poking her tongue out over her bottom gum and lip! So, I bravely stuck my finger in her mouth and found that bumpy ridge just coming through the gum. Joyce was at the house and I excitedly handed Amelia over for Joyce to feel it!! No wonder Amelia ran a low-grade fever on Tuesday and has a cough for what seems like months!

And in other news....Amelia looked like she was going to try and crawl this afternoon. Joyce's kids came by after school and were just hanging out on the floor with Amelia. She was sitting up so well and all of the sudden she tried to lean over and scoot forward. No real progress made at this point, but at least she is trying!

I will work on getting the pics of the crawling attempts posted later. No pics of the teeth just yet! Keep watching.....

Favorite Pics

Scott has been really good about taking pics with his camera phone (where would we be without the wonders of technology!?) when he is home with Amelia while I am at work. And sometimes the camera phone is only one we have handy to grab a few shots of Amelia being so cute. Here are some of my most recent favorites that Scott has taken. Chillin' in the tub, uh, sink! (08/07/09)

Doin' the laundry! (8/29/09) This one is my FAVORITE!!! I love her smiling/laughing face.

8/30/09 (Ok, so technically I was home this evening, but I wanted to send my dad a picture of my girl kickin' back in her high chair that he made. Amelia loves sitting in the chair. She has already figured out that "if I sit in the chair, they give me food!")

I think in the beginning Scott was nervous about having his own baby~especially a baby girl! But, I will say he is so smitten with her. He can walk into a room and she will hear him talk and turn her head and look for him. He has been good about stepping up to the plate to change smelly diapers, deal with the crying, fussy child when I have had enough and figuring out what he can do to distract her when she is crying. I am so proud of him and his increasing confidence with our little girl! Honey, you are being such a great daddy! I know that our little girl loves you so much (and so do I!)

Sand, Sun and a whole lot of fun!

Wow! Can it be September already? I have no idea where the summer has gone. Well, actually I do...we have done a little traveling, spent time visiting with family and friends and enjoying life! It seems that we packed a whole lot of fun into just a few weeks.

It started with a beach weekend with the women in my Mom's family, then home for a few days to work. Amelia liked playing with everyone and was a good shopper. We had a good trip until Saturday when most everyone went down with the stomach bug. Thankfully the three babies we had with us managed to stay healthy!

Off again to Columbus to visit with my fabulous girlfriends from college (after a brief, but yummy lunch with Scott's mom, aka Grandmomma and Aunt Anna) and their kids. It was a great hullabaloo with 6 adults and 12 children! Amelia loved the attention from the older girls and would just sit and watch what everyone was doing. She has become very observant! Then the plan was to come home to work, but the stomach bug that I had avoided for 2 weeks caught up with me! Thankfully I was better in 24 hours and we were off to get Amelia's 6 month pictures made. I can hardly believe that she is 6 1/2 months old!!

Then it was home to work once more and Amelia's 6 mo. doctor's appointment (wt 11lbs, 7 oz).

Finally to cap off all our adventures we headed to the beach for a week of fun in the sun with Mimi, Papa, Uncle Rhett, Aunt Heather and cousin Caleb! Amelia Island was our destination and we had a ball enjoying the sun, the sea and each other. Caleb was a riot! He took his first few
steps and was a monster crawler on the beach. It was fun to watch him crawl along with the determined look on his face. He loved to play (read eat!) the sand and crawl in and out of holes that his daddy dug for him.

Amelia was pretty content to sit in her bouncy seat. She played with her toys, watched the ocean and took lots of naps! Every morning we would load up to walk to the beach and as soon as we hit the sand she would start dancing in the front carrier I had her in! It's like she knew an adventure was about to begin.

And the biggest news of all....Amelia finally got to eat cereal. Her Papa (my dad) had been after me for forever (it seems!) to "feed that girl". So, I waited until vacation because I would be home with her for several days in a row and could get her into a routine. Initially she wasn't too sure about it all, but the girl catches on quick!

Amelia has absolutely loved getting cereal. YUMMY!! She acts like she can't get it in fast enough! I guess soon we will be starting veggies~it has been an adventure for sure!

What's New...

Well, we have had a good weekend! Amelia slept through the night Thursday night (from 9p-4a when I woke her up to feed her before work), Friday night (from 11p-8a!) and Saturday night (from 9p-5a). I can't even begin to tell you how rested I feel! But I will tell you that I was in some serious pain after not nursing for more than 6 hours Saturday and Sunday mornings!!

We had fun watching Amelia try out a new trick this afternoon. She has been watching and trying to duplicate us making noises with our lips and tongue. She usually just spits at you and gives up after a few minutes. But this afternoon she was successful in making noises with her tongue and lips. And thankfully, she did not get camera shy when we went to record her.

Here she is...

(some of the noise in the background is Scott's attempt to entice Amelia into making her noises)

And then Scott proceeded to show me video of the last time I worked on a Sunday and they were home together. Apparently everyone was chillin' on the couch and the cat thought he would take of advantage of Amelia and her "petting" (since the cat gets NO LOVE from Scott. I am surprised that the cat even lasted as long as he did sitting on the couch next to Scott's leg!!) The "petting" and the cat's tolerance is quite a sight!

Ya'll enjoy the videos. I am working on getting new pics from last weekend's family reunion. We are all looking forward to next wekend at the lake with family!

We're rollin', rollin', rollin'

Yep, Miss Amelia has finally been successful in making it from her back to her tummy. She first rolled over (or so I thought) on Sunday afternoon while I was on the phone and I missed it! Amelia had been crying on the floor and I was in the kitchen. When I walked back into the living room to check on her I found that she had rolled from her back to her belly. Scott told me later Amelia had rolled at the sitter's and Debbie had missed it as well.

These first pictures are from Sunday afternoon after Amelia had her second attempt at rolling over again(so hopefully her daddy and I could see it). She was so angry at her shoulder that kept her from rolling completely over. She kept crying and looking at Scott and I like "Why aren't you helping me? Why do you keep laughing?"

"Help me!! I keep trying..."
"I just can't do it.""I quit"

You can just see the tear starting to drip off the bridge of Amelia's nose. She was NOT HAPPY!!:)

But give it just a few days...this is what happened last night. (And already this morning she has rolled from her back to belly and back again.) I think we are in for a whole new adventure!!

"I think I can..."
"I think I can..."
"I think I can...""I did IT!!"

And boy does she look surprised!?!

The Queen of Her Domain

Amelia is getting more head control and is trying so hard to be a big girl!

Last week I pulled out the exersaucer my college roommate loaned us and put Miss Sassy Pants in it. She was a little unsure of herself at first, but has quickly figured out how to pull on things and certainly knows how to chew on the seat and any other objects she can get to her mouth!

I think it is riot that you can see the constant drool she seems to be leaking!

Rub a Dub Dub, Look Who's Having Fun in the Tub!

Well, Amelia is beginning to enjoy bath time. I have to put just enough water to wash her, because she has learned how to splash and I don't always want to take a bath when she does!

We keep looking every day for little teeth to start poking through Amelia's gums. She constantly has her hands in her mouth, is drooling up a storm and just this week has started sticking her tongue out. She looks soo silly!! It makes me laugh every time she sticks it out :)!

There is nothing that smells better than a clean baby who is covered in Johnson and Johnson bath wash and lotion. Amelia always seems to sleep better when she has had a bath!

Is this not the cutest face in the world?! Have a great week!
