I found it this afternoon after I nursed her. No, she did not bite me, but she was making the funniest face and poking her tongue out over her bottom gum and lip! So, I bravely stuck my finger in her mouth and found that bumpy ridge just coming through the gum. Joyce was at the house and I excitedly handed Amelia over for Joyce to feel it!! No wonder Amelia ran a low-grade fever on Tuesday and has a cough for what seems like months!

And in other news....Amelia looked like she was going to try and crawl this afternoon. Joyce's kids came by after school and were just hanging out on the floor with Amelia. She was sitting up so well and all of the sudden she tried to lean over and scoot forward. No real progress made at this point, but at least she is trying!

I will work on getting the pics of the crawling attempts posted later. No pics of the teeth just yet! Keep watching.....

Favorite Pics

Scott has been really good about taking pics with his camera phone (where would we be without the wonders of technology!?) when he is home with Amelia while I am at work. And sometimes the camera phone is only one we have handy to grab a few shots of Amelia being so cute. Here are some of my most recent favorites that Scott has taken. Chillin' in the tub, uh, sink! But, I will say he is so smitten with her. He can walk into a room and she will hear him talk and turn her head and look for him. He has been good about stepping up to the plate to change smelly diapers, deal with the crying, fussy child when I have had enough and figuring out what he can do to distract her when she is crying. I am so proud of him and his increasing confidence with our little girl! Honey, you are being such a great daddy! I know that our little girl loves you so much (and so do I!)

Sand, Sun and a whole lot of fun!

Wow! Can it be September already? I have no idea where the summer has gone. Well, actually I do...we have done a little traveling, spent time visiting with family and friends and enjoying life! It seems that we packed a whole lot of fun into just a few weeks.

It started with a beach weekend with the women in my Mom's family, then home for a few days to work. Amelia liked playing with everyone and was a good shopper. We had a good trip until Saturday when most everyone went down with the stomach bug. Thankfully the three babies we had with us managed to stay healthy!

Off again to Columbus to visit with my fabulous girlfriends from college (after a brief, but yummy lunch with Scott's mom, aka Grandmomma and Aunt Anna) and their kids. It was a great hullabaloo with 6 adults and 12 children! Amelia loved the attention from the older girls and would just sit and watch what everyone was doing. She has become very observant! Then the plan was to come home to work, but the stomach bug that I had avoided for 2 weeks caught up with me! Thankfully I was better in 24 hours and we were off to get Amelia's 6 month pictures made. I can hardly believe that she is 6 1/2 months old!!

Then it was home to work once more and Amelia's 6 mo. doctor's appointment (wt 11lbs, 7 oz).

Finally to cap off all our adventures we headed to the beach for a week of fun in the sun with Mimi, Papa, Uncle Rhett, Aunt Heather and cousin Caleb! Amelia Island was our destination and we had a ball enjoying the sun, the sea and each other. Caleb was a riot! He took his first few
steps and was a monster crawler on the beach. It was fun to watch him crawl along with the determined look on his face. He loved to play (read eat!) the sand and crawl in and out of holes that his daddy dug for him.

Amelia was pretty content to sit in her bouncy seat. She played with her toys, watched the ocean and took lots of naps! Every morning we would load up to walk to the beach and as soon as we hit the sand she would start dancing in the front carrier I had her in! It's like she knew an adventure was about to begin.

And the biggest news of all....Amelia finally got to eat cereal. Her Papa (my dad) had been after me for forever (it seems!) to "feed that girl". So, I waited until vacation because I would be home with her for several days in a row and could get her into a routine. Initially she wasn't too sure about it all, but the girl catches on quick!

Amelia has absolutely loved getting cereal. Amelia slept through the night Thursday night (from 9p-4a when I woke her up to feed her before work), Friday night (from 11p-8a!) and Saturday night (from 9p-5a). I can't even begin to tell you how rested I feel! But I will tell you that I was in some serious pain after not nursing for more than 6 hours Saturday and Sunday mornings!!

We had fun watching Amelia try out a new trick this afternoon. She has been watching and trying to duplicate us making noises with our lips and tongue. She usually just spits at you and gives up after a few minutes. But this afternoon she was successful in making noises with her tongue and lips. And thankfully, she did not get camera shy when we went to record her.

Here she is...

<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/get_player" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"width="320" height="266" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"flashvars="flvurl=http://v3.nonxt8.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?id%3Db8ad5a3953395bd5%26itag%3D5%26app%3Dblogger%26ip%3D0.0.0.0%26ipbits%3D0%26expire%3D1331705107%26sparams%3Did,itag,ip,ipbits,expire%26signature%3D33CD25B6D4CAD0171CAA454338C252988AA28C3E.15E6B263316F3E7406AF76179C764FBBA4EFC57%26key%3Dck1&iurl=http://video.google.com/ThumbnailServer2?app%3Dblogger%26contentid%3Db8ad5a3953395bd5%26offsetms%3D5000%26itag%3Dw160%26sigh%3D7JXGjXAeW2D85VVMRdMAzDCgjLc&autoplay=0&ps=blogger"allowFullScreen="true" />

(some of the noise in the background is Scott's attempt to entice Amelia into making her noises)

And then Scott proceeded to show me video of the last time I worked on a Sunday and they were home together. She first rolled over (or so I thought) on Sunday afternoon while I was on the phone and I missed it! Amelia had been crying on the floor and I was in the kitchen. When I walked back into the living room to check on her I found that she had rolled from her back to her belly. Scott told me later Amelia had rolled at the sitter's and Debbie had missed it as well.

These first pictures are from Sunday afternoon after Amelia had her second attempt at rolling over again(so hopefully her daddy and I could see it). She was so angry at her shoulder that kept her from rolling completely over. She kept crying and looking at Scott and I like "Why aren't you helping me? Why do you keep laughing?"

"Help me!! Where has the time gone? I intended to (and actually started one) post on Mother's Day, but after putting Amelia to bed I headed off to sleep since I had to work on Monday. I am sorry that this is the first time I am posting our adventures from last weekend and from my first Mother's Day!

We had a great day together. Scott started Mother's Day early by sending me flowers to work on Friday. He has always been so good about remembering special occasions. I think the girls at work are a bit jealous! Keep up the GREAT work, honey!

On Saturday, Amelia and I started the day in Athens at the March of Dimes March for Babies. As a nurse in the Neonatal ICU, I see not only babies that arrive way too soon, but also term babies that can be very, very sick. The March of Dimes works diligently to research ways to prevent prematurity. Great strides have been made, but premature babies continue to be born every day. I can only hope that the work I do everyday makes a small difference in the lives of my tiny patients and families. Below is a photo of all the walkers from ARMC and families that have been affected by a stay in the NICU.

Saturday afternoon, we all were able to celebrate my grandparents' 50th wedding anniversary. It is amazing that they have been married for such a long time. God has truly given us wonderful witnesses in our parents and grandparents as to what marriage should be like. We feel very humble to follow in their example and know that it took a lot of hard work, laughter and dependence on God to get them this far!

Grandmother (Betty) and Granddaddy (Bob) Nesbitt cutting the cake.

Amelia sitting pretty.

On Mother's Day we went to our church and then went to Rhett and Heather's church to see Caleb (their little boy and our nephew) dedicated. They had several pews of family members there to celebrate with them. Afterwards, my parents, grandparents, 2 sets of aunts and uncles, several cousins and friends of my grandparents headed to Five Guys Burgers and Fries for lunch and fellowship together.

Below are just a few of my favorite photos of Amelia from the month thus far. She is beginning to play on the floor on her mat and not just cry all the time when we leave her there. She constantly has her hands in her mouth and is drooling all over the place. Lots of time the front of her clothes are soaked from drool! Amelia is beginning to be more interactive with toys that hang above her head. And talk...Amelia has this deep, gravely type voice that seems to growl at us. She is babbling and cooing up a storm! I love to listen to that little voice express her opinion (at least for now!!)

Smiling and sitting big in her Bumbo!

Catching a few zzzz's with Daddy while Mommy gets a shower~this is what I found when I opened the bathroom door!

Here's to hoping that we have new pictures and adventures posted later in the week!

This Week

Wow. What a week this has been. I started back to work on Sunday which was hard, even though my mom (Mimi) was here to watch Amelia. (THANKS MIMI!!) I cried as I fed Amelia before I left. Monday was a bit easier! Tuesday we took Amelia and her cousin Caleb to get pictures made. They both did SO GOOD. Caleb was not too sure of the photographer, but the guy was so patient and just kept taking pictures. We ended up with GREAT shots of both kids~individually and together. Wednesday was another fun day of hanging out with Mimi and cousin Caleb. Thursday was back to work for me and Scott was truly on his own for getting Amelia fed and to daycare. He did a good job! He called me once and Amelia was WAILING in the background and that just about did me in! But when I picked Amelia up at the sitter's they said she had a good day and was a happy baby. We are going to enjoy ourselves today and hopefully have lunch with Joyce.

We have a busy weekend planned with Brianna's first holy communion on Saturday and Lucas' birthday party on Sunday. It will be fun to see all of Joyce's family!

I will post pictures from the photo shoot soon!

Welcome to the 'Hood

Well, I have decided to jump in with both feet and start a blog. Partly my reason is to share pictures with family who are far away. And the other is too help me remember what happens in our lives and as Amelia grows and changes SO QUICKLY. I can't promise that I will up date this every day, but I will do my best about keeping up with happenings around our neck of the wood!

Today Amelia, her daddy and I have spent the day being lazy. Amelia and I spent most of the morning hanging out on the couch. Her daddy has gone to Road Atlanta for some Ferrari challenge (don't ask me~all I know about Ferrari's is that they are cars!) For the most part Amelia is a happy baby, but there have been times where she pokes out that bottom lip and bursts into wails. For the most part, when that lip pokes out all Scott and I can do is laugh! At almost 12 weeks old, she is laughing out loud, smiling and cooing.

The cooing is new this week. Amelia has found her voice (and it extends beyond the wailing she liked to do up until now!) and it is soo sweet! She likes to talk to me, her daddy and her bunny.

It is hard to believe that I go back to work tomorrow. These past 12 weeks have flown by! We have been busy visiting family and watching this sweet girl grow. There are times where I am excited about going back to work, but I also feel very torn about leaving Amelia. I am so glad that my mom is coming to stay the first few days that I go back to work! And I am glad that we have a fabulous lady who will be keeping Amelia when I am at work. We are truly blessed!

The picture is from earlier in the week. I love her determined look of concentration. She best get used to having her picture made! Her Mimi, Grandmomma and I like to take lots of pictures of this cute girl!
